Central Park is set to host a major new addition to our summer calendar as the Discovery Festival arrives for a three-day weekend from June 12β14, 2026. The event is leaning heavily into nostalgia, kicking off on Friday with a "Boyband Takeover" featuring Five, Blue, and The Wanted 2.0. Saturday brings 80s themes with a massive synth-pop and new wave lineup headlined by OMD, alongside Level 42, Kim Wilde, Nik Kershaw, Johnny Hates Jazz, and Altered Images.
If you're looking to grab tickets, they go on general sale this Friday, February 27, at 10:00 AM, with prices starting around Β£45. Itβs also worth noting that every ticket includes a Β£1 donation split between the Shooting Star Childrenβs Hospice and The Not Forgotten charity. With Sundayβs headliners still to be revealed, itβs looking like one of the biggest music weekends Central Park has seen in a while.
π₯ Plymouth Boxer Constantin Ursu Sets Sight on British Title this Saturday
All eyes are on Plymouthβs own Constantin Ursu this weekend as he heads to Derby to fight for the vacant British Welterweight Title. Ursu, known to many as the "Moldovan Monster" since moving to the city in 2018, faces Worcesterβs Owen Cooper at the Vaillant Live Arena this Saturday, February 28. Itβs a massive night for the 25-year-old, as he looks to add the prestigious Lonsdale Belt to his European and Commonwealth collection.
The stakes couldn't be higher for Plymouth boxing, as we haven't seen a British title holder in the city for over two decades. You have to look back to 2004β2006 for the era of the legendary Scott "Dynamite" Dann, who famously won the Lonsdale Belt outright at the Pavilions. If Ursu secures the win on Saturday, heβll be the first fighter to bring a British title back to Plymouth since the Scott Dann glory days, ending a 22-year wait for the cityβs fight fans.
Plans for a "Plymouth Metro" are gaining momentum, with transport bosses confirming that a new Plympton railway station is officially back on the table. Network Rail is currently reviewing potential sites for the new stop, which would sit on the main line between Plymouth and Ivybridge. The goal is to create a more frequent, "turn up and go" rail service for the cityβs eastern edges, helping to ease the notorious congestion on the A38 and support the thousands of new homes being built at Sherford and beyond.
While we aren't at the "shovels in the ground" stage just yet, the project has hit a key milestone with its inclusion in the 2026/27 Delivery Plan. A formal feasibility study is now underway to pin down the best location, with the council aiming to submit a final funding bid to the government by 2027. If approved, it would end a nearly 70-year wait for Plymptonβs rail connection, which has been missing since the original station closed its doors back in 1959.

π 11 Plym Card Spots to Spoil Mum on Motherβs Day
Motherβs Day is creeping up, and if youβre currently panicking about how to secure your "Favourite Child" status for another year, weβve done the legwork for you. Weβve hand-picked 11 local spots across Plymouth where you can spoil Mum properly, ranging from quiet coffee corners & beautiful houseplants, to full-blown Sunday feasts.
The best part? Every single one of these is a Plym Card partner. That means you can back our local independent legends and earn some serious brownie points, all while keeping a few extra quid in your pocket.
